The Blogger will always get through... records my thoughts on odd subjects related to the development of this website, Nuclear, Biological and Chemical Warfare, Air Raid Precautions/Civil Defence and anything else that happens to grab my interest.
The name is derived from Stanley Baldwin's famous statement in the House of Commons in November 1932 that:
"I think it is well also for the man in the street to realise that there is no power on earth that can protect him from being bombed, whatever people may tell him. The bomber will always get through....The only defence is in offence, which means that you have got to kill more women and children more quickly than the enemy if you want to save yourselves. I mention that so that people may realise what is waiting for them when the next war comes."
I've always been fascinated by the fear and paranoia in the inter-war years of aerial attack on civilian populations and the preparations undertaken to meet the death and destruction that was expected to come from the skies. As this subject brings NBC warfare and Air Raid Precautions together, I thought it made a suitable title!

This visit actually took place on 14th June, but as usual, I'm behind with blogging.
I was 'mopping up' from my previous visits and added a couple of fantastic finds to those of last time.
I haven't yet mentioned what I found last time, as my blog ended at lunchtime, but that afternoon, I changed my strategy and began looking for material not just from Canadian files, but going back over the British forces who had preceeded them, not just in East Sussex, but those who also held a neighbouring divisional area.
This yielded a few more useful documents and precise changeover dates between divisions, but I then hit a seam of unbelieveably fantastic papers which I'll discuss in a subsequent post.
