Search Tips

The search screen allows you to search across multiple fields of the database. Wildcards are already incorporated into the search fields and quotemarks and boolean operators will not work. The search is also case-insensitive. Any fields not required can be left empty.

Author Surname

This field will allow you to search any part of the surname of any of the authors or translator.

Title

This box searches the title and subtitle fields.

Year

These boxes can used singly or in combination. To find a single year, enter it in both boxes. To find matches between two years, (e.g. 1939 and 1945), enter 1939 in the first box and 1945 in the second. To find all matches before a particular year, enter it in the second box, leaving the first blank. Do the reverse for matches after a specific year.

Keywords

This field searches the descriptive notes.

Sort Order

These drop-down menus determine how the results are put in order. They default to author, year, title and nationality. If duplicate values are entered, only the first instance will be regarded.

The remaining drop-down menu fields are self-explanatory.
