The Periodical Articles Database contains brief abstracts of newspaper and magazine articles related to Nuclear, Biological and Chemical Defence as well as Air Raid Precautions/Civil Defence.
The database was the result of endless lists of articles scribbled on little scraps of paper over the years. In this format, the information was not easily accessible, and certainly not ordered or searchable.
Because the database was originally intended for my own use, it still needs a bit of work to improve it following its conversion from a flat to a relational database compatible with web technology. However, the database as you see it is fully functional, despite being short of one or two fields that I intend to build into the structure.
Currently, the period covered only runs as far as 1944, but coverage will gradually extend to the present day as I populate the database with more abstracts. There are several hundred articles (perhaps even a thousand) still to add; writing all of these up is going to take time!
